2019 Richard J. Haines Memorial Award for Safety Excellence

The Richard J. Haines Memorial Award for Safety Excellence from the Construction Services Group Trust awards construction companies for their outstanding safety record. The award is given to those who meet the criteria (below) — ideals that Richard strove to implement — and who go the extra mile to do “the right things to foster an injury- and incident-free working environment” for all.

The Joseph A. Holmes Safety Association Council (Maine Aggregate Association) awards construction companies who have achieved a commitment to its employees for zero accidents, as reported to the Maine Safety & Health Administration for 2018.

2016 AGC National Safety Award

Excellent Safety Record — Zero Incidence Rate — 10,000 to 50,000 Work Hours

Sargent was presented the AGC 2016 National Safety Award for Excellent Safety Record — Zero Incidence Rate — 10,000 to 50,000 Work Hours. Sargent believes in providing the highest level of safety to our team, and our goal of zero accidents ensures our employees finish each day in the same condition they started it.

2016 Achievement in Safety from Maine Aggregate Association, Inc.

The Joseph A. Holmes Safety Association Council (Maine Aggregate Association) awards construction companies who have achieved a commitment to its employees for zero accidents, as reported to the Maine Safety & Health Administration for 2015.

2015 United States Department of Labor

Mine Safety and Health Administration Certificate of Achievement in Safety

The Certificate of Achievement in Safety was awarded to Sargent for 4,158 employee hours worked without a lost workday injury in 2015.

2011 AGC America National Safety Awards

These awards are given to AGC member organizations with incident rates at least 25% below the average rate in their division, as well as members with a zero-incident rate in heavy/industrial, highway, building, municipal utilities, and associate/specialty divisions.

Performance Awards

2019 Build Maine Award for the Route 27 Boothbay Corridor

Sargent was presented with a Build Maine Award from the Associated General Contractors of Maine. This award was in the Coastal Highway Division for the construction of the Route 27 Corridor in Boothbay, Maine.

2018 Build Maine Award for the Millinocket Brookfield Penstock

We were presented with a Build Maine Award from the Associated General Contractors of Maine. This award was in the Industrial Division for the construction of the Brookfield Penstock Replacement in Millinocket, Maine.

2017 Best Places to Work in Maine

Sargent was honored to receive the Best Places to Work in Maine Award. Sargent was ranked as the 14th-Best Place to Work in Maine in the Large Employer Category (250 or more U.S. employees). The results were based 75% on employee surveys and 25% on benefits, policies, practices, and other general information. Along with a strong benefits package, Sargent’s employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) pays 10% of company profit equally each year to all employees.

2017 Build Maine Award for the Oxford Area C Sewer

We were presented with a Build Maine Award from the Associated General Contractors of Maine. This award was in the Municipal/Utility Division for the construction of the Area C Sewer in Oxford, Maine.

2017 Build Maine Award for the Capisic Pond Rehabilitation

Sargent was presented with a Build Maine Award from the Associated General Contractors of Maine. This award was in the Specialty Division for the construction of the Capisic Pond Rehabilitation project in Portland, Maine.

2015 Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence

The Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence for a Community, Public Sector, or Nonprofit category “recognizes a project born from innovation and collaboration that has resulted in measurable environmental and economic benefits.”

2015 Build Maine Award for the Presque Isle Landfill Closure

We were presented with a Build Maine Award from the Associated General Contractors of Maine. This award was in the Specialty Division for the construction of the Landfill Closure in Presque Isle, Maine.

2014 Build Maine Award for the Portland Baxter Boulevard North Storage

Sargent was presented with a Build Maine Award from the Associated General Contractors of Maine. This award was in the Municipal/Utility Division for the construction of Baxter Boulevard North Storage in Portland, Maine.

2011 Build Maine Award for Portland Jetport Terminal Apron Expansion and Deicing Facility

We were presented with a Build Maine Award from the Associated General Contractors of Maine. This award was in the Specialty Division for the construction of the Jetport Terminal Apron Expansion and Deicing Facility in Portland, Maine.

2010 Build Maine Award for Hatcase Pond Intake Pipe, Eddington

Sargent was presented with a Build Maine Award from the Associated General Contractors of Maine. This award was in the Specialty Division for the construction of the Hatcase Pond Intake Pipe in Eddington, Maine.

2010 Gold Well Workplace Award for Sargent “Dig in for Health” Wellness Program

We earned the Wellness Councils of America’s (WELCOA) Gold Well Workplace designation. This level of dedication continues to this day, as 92% of the company’s employees choose to participate in the Dig in for Health program.

2019 United Way Gold Award Winner

The United Way Gold Award is presented to companies that meet all five criteria as follows: company average gift ≥ $260, company gift per capita ≥ $80, company participation ≥ 40%, implementation of best practices, and total amount raised ≥ previous year (must be met before receiving any award). Each year, our employees give graciously to the United Way, which does so much for our community.
