Description / Significance

Sargent crews completed piping and revetment work at the City of Portsmouth, NH wastewater treatment plant, located on Peirce Island, in the middle of the Piscataqua River.  Crews worked against tide, having to excavate around many existing utilities, and also hoe-ram some high ledge in areas.

Scope of work included:

  • 2,000 linear feet of 8″ – 12″ waterline
  • 600 linear feet of sewer force main
  • 1,200 linear feet of 8″ temporary waterline
  • Placement of large boulders in a “stairway” type slope design along the shoreline – totaling 650 cubic yards (approximately 1,000 tons of boulders)
