Description / Significance

Sargent crews reconstructed 4.87 miles of Route 16 in Old Town and 1.42 miles of Route 155 in Howland.  Both roads were in poor condition and required reshaping for safety and drainage.

MDOT provided the PM Rap that was used to place the first 2 layers of pavement on the ground surface.  Depths varied from 2″ to 10″, as needed to raise the grade of the road to provide a crown for proper drainage.

Work included:

  • Coordination of the relocation of existing utility lines
  • 5,000 tons (54,000 square yards) of milled asphalt that was removed and taken to Sargent’s Hermon Asphalt plant
  • 10,130 tons of new HMA pavement
  • 4,500 tons of PM Rap – plant mix recycled asphalt pavement
  • 2,300 linear feet of drainage pipe
  • 3,000 linear feet of guardrail
  • 1,000 linear feet of slipform curb
  • 100,000 linear feet of temporary pavement markings
